PROFILE TPM College (formerly known as TPM Academy) is a subsidiary of Technology Park Malaysia, a corporation set up to propel Malaysia into the Information Age. Technology Park Malaysia is one of the world's most advanced and comprehensive centres for research and development in knowledge-based industries. Registered with the Ministry of Education, TPM College is among the first tertiary institutions in the country that support the Malaysian government's move towards increasing the number of qualified and professional technopreneurs in the country. A good example is TPM College's commitment to be current and in tune with the country's developments is its alignment of focus in biotechnology in tandem with the government's recent launch of the National Biotechnology Policy in Malaysia. TPM College's biotechnology twinning degree is more relevant than ever. Designed to provide first class infrastructure for quality education, TPM College is located within a beautifully landscaped ground that houses 12 state-of-the-art buildings specifically constructed with specific functions to provide first class education. One example of the cutting edge infrastructure on site is TPM's impressive Enterprise 4 building, an intelligent building designed to service the physical needs of high-tech companies. TPM College was officially launched on 24th April 2003 by YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Hj Ahmad Badawi, Malaysia's fifth Prime Minister. Although the institution is very young, it is confident that it will gradually develop to be among the best tertiary institutions in the country. To consolidate this, TPM College has started to collaborate with a number of international universities in the form of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). Apart from ensuring quality education, the collaboration also further realises the objectives of its establishment which are : -To promote opportunities for sharing of educational expertise -To promote development of an international perspective in community college classrooms -To provide support services and development opportunities in the field of learning -To provide international education resources to itself and other colleges in Malaysia -To form liaisons with institutions involved in international education activities Keeping in mind the objectives above, TPM College at present puts much effort in the development of its three main Colleges: · College of Business and Communication · College of Science & Engineering · College of Arts & Social Sciences Currently, there are five schools operating under these three main colleges. These are: 1. School of Engineering 2. School of ICT and Multimedia 3. School of Business Administration 4. School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology 5. School of Languages and Communication Along with the advancement of today's technology, TPM College caters to the various needs of students aspiring to obtain quality education in the fields of engineering, biotechnology, information technology and business administration. The curricular is designed not only to equip students with hands-on experience in their respective fields, but also to expose them to various disciplines within the respective fields. TPM College hopes that in totality, it will be able to produce graduates who are dynamic and efficient in their respective industries. With an excellent fusion of teaching methodology by industry-experienced instructors, excellent instruction systems, as well as high-end technologies and extensive teaching facilities, TPM College is confident that it will be able to generate respectable graduates who will successfully contribute to the development of nation.
